Councils all over the UK and Ireland have come together to create a partnership called LocalGov Drupal. This initiative has involved them working together to create, develop and share Drupal code to help each other service their communities more effectively and efficiently. 

LocalGov Drupal was created to develop better digital experiences for the council's citizens, reduce costs and enhance service outcomes.  

The councils involved have followed the Local Digital Declaration, which helps with developing a communal pool of code, resources, research, and knowledge to create this publicly owned asset. 

The asset is created and managed by a community of leaders, designers and developers from councils across the country.

LocalGov Drupal is an economical choice for local governments, with an 80% average cost saved. It allows them to advance their digital offerings by making their websites more accessible, functional and secure. 

The LocalGov Drupal community is what makes this asset such a success. The community includes a variety of roles within a large number of councils, such as IT directors, content editors, developers and many more. This means that the input into the platform development is diverse and well thought out. It also means that users of the CMS's needs are met with simplified processes.
